On Friday, April 26, 2018, members of the CCA team came together, in a day of service, to volunteer at My Sister’s Place Women’s Center in Baltimore City.
MSPWC is a Catholic Charities affiliated organization that provides women and children in need with three meals a day, housing assistance, education and life skills training among other services. MSPWC provides women with pathways to income, improved health, sustainable housing and community integration.
While volunteering at MSPWC, the CCA team first took part in working at the clothing boutique. The boutique offers casual clothes and business attire that woman can select to prepare for interviews, legal meetings or other events where more formal clothing is required. The team organized donated clothing by style and size and packed up winter items that are out of season. After that, the team assisted in the distribution of lunch. Colleagues from CCA split into two groups — servers and dishwashers — and aided the MSPWC staff in bringing lunch to roughly 50 women. Once lunch was complete, the team oversaw the washing and restocking of dishes as well as the cleanup of the kitchen.
An integral part of the organization’s mission, MSPWC has provided over 83,000 meals to women and their children. CCA was proud to take part in this noble mission and thankful for the opportunity to come together and give back to those less fortunate in Baltimore City.
